This week’s activities
Each key person will be responsible for designing an activity based on their key children’s needs; however, all children who are in on that day will have the opportunity to access the activity too.
If the key person is on holiday or off, another staff member will be able to lead the activity in their place so that the children do not miss out.

Our Policy of the Week

Government/ local authority free entitlement

Aim of policy

This policy ensures that government funding for the Free Entitlement is delivered within statutory and local authority guidelines. It also gives parents guidance on how we deliver the funding.

Points to consider

3 and 4 year old Free Entitlement

The FEE is available to all families, from the term after the child’s third birthday.
The Free Entitlement is delivered up to 15 hours per week term time only. The session times that the funding can be used, will be decided by the setting.

2 year old Free Entitlement

This is an eligibility based funding from the term after the child’s second birthday. Applications for two year old funding are made via the local authority and places can only be allocated once eligibility has been confirmed. Any sessions used outside of the funded hours will be charged at the full fee rate. The session times that the funding can be used, will be decided by the setting.

Free Entitlement only

Each setting has a limited number of Free Entitlement only sessions available under either the three and four or two year old funding depending on the setting and local authority. Registration fees do not apply for Free Entitlement only sessions. Free Entitlement only sessions will have no fees attached to them, unless the children attend over the Free Entitlement only sessions or choose to attend during the school holidays.  Free Entitlement only sessions are set sessions put aside by the setting management. Parents will be offered only the sessions available that have created for the Free Entitlement only sessions.

The setting or club manager will be able to provide further information on the sessions available.

Childcare and Learning Group aim to achieve this by:

The Free Entitlement is offered by claiming up to three hours of funding within one full  five hour session in either or both of the morning or afternoon sessions. If your child does a full day (8am-6pm) they can claim up to six hours per day with four hours being charged at the rate invoiced as per the setting’s full fee schedule.

A child would need to be attending for five full five hour sessions per week to be eligible to claim the full 15 hours of funding available to them each week.

Parents are able to split the 15 available hours of funding with us and another setting provided they do not claim more than fifteen hours per week between the two settings.

To receive the funding, at the start of each term parents are requested to complete required documentation declaring their wish for the setting to claim on their behalf.

The first time the funding is claimed either a birth certificate or passport is required to be presented to the setting manager to prove edibility through age.

Because of the way the funding is allocated by the local authority, based on academic terms, payable fees invoiced will differ each month to take account of the Free Entitlement sessions. Funding is not paid during academic term holidays and breaks and so during these times, there is no Free Entitlement.

Funding received by the local authority to pay for the Free Entitlement is paid at a set local authority rate. Fees charged for additional non- funded fee charging hours are set at a rate to support the sustainability of our quality provision whilst working within the statutory conditions for early education funding.

Pupil Premium
Have you heard of Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP)? It’s funding from the Government that providers can use to do even more to support children aged 3 and 4 years old. To find out if your child is eligible please see the attached document or visit www.surreycc.gov.uk/eypp

Kind Regards,
