In2Sports – This week coach Jack was on holiday so coach Elliot came to play! The children practiced their grouping skills while matching coloured objects into hoops.

Halloween/Bonfire night
Please join us to celebrate Halloween and bonfire night on Friday (4th) from 3.45 – 5.00pm. We will be dressing up in Halloween costumes and enjoying Halloween treats and pizza. All parents and children are welcome to join J
 
Staff News
We have successfully filled both positions here. Our new baby Room Senior Jessica will be starting with us at the beginning of November. She has her level 3 qualification and has had lots of experience working with all ages of children. She will be working alongside Charlotte, Sammy and Nilem, we will introduce her to you all when she starts.
Additionally we have filled our floating position, Chloe M will start with us at the end of November. She has been working in another Nursery setting in Farnham and has gained her level 3 qualification this year.
Ruby has now been with us for the last 2 weeks, she has settled in really well. I hope you have all had the opportunity to meet her.

This week’s activities
Each key person will be responsible for designing an activity based on their key children’s needs; however, all children who are in on that day will have the opportunity to access the activity too.
If the key person is on holiday or off, another staff member will be able to lead the activity in their place so that the children do not miss out.

Topic of the month: Shapes
 
Monday – Charlotte’s group is developing their fine motor skills and hand eye co-ordination while exploring pipe cleaners and colanders
Tuesday – Nilem’s group will be exploring media while using the finger paints and making a variety of marks on a large sheet of paper
Wednesday – Charlotte’s group is singing number songs building an awareness of number names
Thursday – Sammy’s group are investigating the ‘See and Read’ book supporting an interest in stories
Friday – Sammy’s group will be building their confidence while taking part in a simple obstacle course in the garden promoting co-ordination
Charlotte is off Wednesday and on training Friday morning, Sammy is on training on Tuesday, Ruby and Jenni are in all week. Nilem is on holiday all week.

Monday – Megan’s group are making sand socks together and experimenting with media to make paint marks in the garden
Tuesday – Chloe’s group will be celebrating Halloween by dressing up in different costumes with our friends promoting health and self-care
Wednesday – Donna’s group are practicing their counting skills while exploring a variety of sea creatures in water
Thursday – Donna’s group is creating their favourite models using cardboard boxes and recycled materials
Friday – Donna’s group will be building an obstacle course in the garden with their friends supporting gross motor skills and co-ordination
Donna is off Monday and Tuesday, Chloe is off Monday, Megan and Carla are in all week. Donna and Megan are on ‘Curious Years’ training on Friday morning.
 
Sunflowers
 
The Sunflowers have one detailed weekly focused activity to ensure all the children have the opportunity to take part in it. The Key People link this activity to their individual Key Groups.
This will work alongside their weekly planned activity list which you can see in the room and on the ILD’S.
 
This week’s activity is: Celebrating Halloween
 
This week the children are building their knowledge and understanding of different festivals and times of year. The children will be talking about Halloween and observing pumpkins with their friends. They will be supported to talk about the textures, colour and shape and describe what they see. The activity will be extended and the children will create their own picture of a pumpkin using different materials and resources.

Our Policy of the Week
 
Safeguarding training
  •  
  • As soon as possible and within the first three months of employment, all practitioners must attend Safeguarding Training: Working Together to Safeguard Children.
  •  
  • This will give all staff members, current information on Child Protection.
  •  
  • All Practitioners must complete Safeguarding Children Refresher every three years.
  •  
  • The setting or club Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead must attend Safeguarding Children Module 1 and 2, which is run by the Surrey Safeguarding Children board. This should be updated every two years.
  •  
  • Upon induction, all staff will be taken through the policies and procedures related to Child Protection and Safeguarding as part of their induction. All staff will be required to read the policies and procedures at the start of their employment, annually and if any policies are updated.
  •  
  • During induction all staff will be trained in completing an accident and incident form and how to use a body map.
  •  
  • A copy of the Staff safeguarding pack will also be available to staff at all times in the setting.
